Between 1908 and 1913, Joseph K. Dixon (1856-1926, photographer and filmmaker) worked on the Wanamaker Expedition of Citizenship," which was sponsored by Rodman Wanamaker (1863-1928, Wanamaker department stores) to present American flags to 189 tribes and emphasize the importance of Native citizenship. He met and photographed Ishi (ca. 1860-1916), called "the last of the Yahi," during the latter part of this work. No other collection history information available.
