Collection History:

Between 1901 and about 1930, Grace Nicholson maintained a curio shop in Pasadena, California, that specialized in Native California baskets and other items. During this period, she often visited Native communities to acquire pieces for her personal collection and the shop, and additionally documented her visits and the items with photography. Nicholson sold many objects to MAI in the 1920s; this print probably accompanied those objects.
