Formerly owned by Chief Shakes (probably Kaawishte, Chief Shakes V, who held the title Chief Shakes until his passing in 1878, or Gush Tlein, Chief Shakes VI, who held the title from 1878 until his passing in 1916); transferred to a Kaagwaantaan (Raven/Brown Bear) clan chief of the Chilkat at an unknown date; collected from the Chilkat chief by Lieutenant George T. Emmons (1852-1945, US Navy 1881-1899); purchased by George Heye in 1907.
