Said to have been made by Pleasant Miles for his wife, whom he married circa 1780; inherited by their daughter Caroline Miles (Pamunkey, ca. 1795-1870) and passed on to her granddaughter, Margaret Adams (Pamunkey, ca. 1851-ca. 1930); collected from Margaret Adams in 1920 by anthropologist Frank G. Speck (1881-1951), probably during fieldwork sponsored by MAI.
